Looking back on the HCE 2016
Thursday 7th April the Humanities Career Event took place. Students from all BA and MA programmes gathered to learn from alumni and professionals about their opportunities on the job market. After an inspiring keynote speech by Jelle Brandt Corstius (a well-known writer and journalist and Humanities Alumni), students spread around to attend workshops and presentations of their liking.
Alumni working at several companies such as the Red Cross, Google, PwC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present. They told attendees all about the path that led them from Leiden University to their current occupation. Professional coaches taught students how to present yourself as a brand and how to flirt professionally: a fun way of networking. During the end drinks several facilities where available for attendees. They could have their LinkedIn checked, get advice from a stylist on business attire and have a professional profile picture taken.
More than 250 students from Leiden and The Hague joined the event. We would like to thank you all for your presence! It proved to be a both exciting and informing day.
In 2017 the Humanities Career Event will be held on the 12th of April. Are you interested in joining the Humanities Career Board? Let us know by email and we’ll make sure to notify you when the application procedure starts in September.
