3 October holiday: university closed

October 3rd is a local holiday in Leiden: the ‘Leids Ontzet’. For this reason, the university buildings are closed and there will be no lectures. This is also in effect for International Studies in The Hague.

Writing Tip #7: Structure of your paper

When writing an academic paper, it is always important to have a clear structure. This does not only help the reader to understand your arguments, it also helps you to create a more convincing paper.

Help save energy! Wear your sweater on February 5th

On February 5th  it’s Sweater Day. This means the University will lower the temperature in the  lecture halls in the Lipsius and Huizinga building for one day to help reduce CO2-emissions.  Don’t forget to bring a warm sweater to make sure you won’t be cold! In the week of February 8th, the University will announce the gains of this year’s Sweater Day.


Wegens groot succes herhaald: literair vertalen Russisch!

De opleiding Russian & Eurasian Studies kondigt met trots de tweede editie aan van het MA-vak literair vertalen voor Nederlandstalige studenten met een gedegen kennis van het Russisch. Te beginnen in februari 2016, en dankzij de financiële steun van het Wilhelmina E Jansenfonds, zullen gastdocenten Yolanda Bloemen en Arthur Langeveld wederom een groep van maximaal 12 studenten bij de hand nemen om hen in te wijden in de geheimen van de vertaalwetenschap en vooral om met hen Russisch literatuur te vertalen naar goedlopend Nederlands.
