Philosophy of History Colloquium by Jouni-Matti Kuukkanen

The Exploring New Vistas in Historiography of Science colloquium series continues this Spring with a dive into the even deeper waters of the Philosophy of History. On Thursday, 10 May 2012, Dr. Jouni-Matti Kuukkanen will present his ongoing research in this field in Leiden.

On Thursday, 10 May 2012, Felicitas Kraemer (Philosophy & Ethics, TU Eindhoven) will present the last lecture of the Spring 2012 series of Practical Philosophy Colloquia: ‘Towards a Neosentimentalist Account of Guilt’.

Dies Natalis 2012

The Celebration of the Dies Natalis takes place today at 15:00 hrs in the Pieterskerk, Pieterskerkhof 1A in Leiden. There will be a live video broadcast of the ceremony, and a simultaneous translation will be provided in English.  


Mini-course on Biopolitics

In week 45, 7-12 November 2011, the Institute for Philosophy will host a mini-course by visiting professor Vanessa Lemm, Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Institute of Humanities at the Diego Portales University, Santiago de Chile.


Workshop 'Nietzsche the Kantian?'

On 11 and 12 February 2011 the Leiden Institute for Philosophy will host the workshop 'Nietzsche the Kantian? Reading Nietzsche and Kant on the Sovereign Individual, Freedom and the Will.'


New portal for business travel booking

The University will be switching to a new business travel booking system in the near future. Employees will be able to book their business trips via a new ‘travel portal’ supplied by ATP Business Travel. This travel agency will explain how to use the booking system during two information sessions, to be held on the 17th and the 25th of March.  


Tractatus in Holland

On Monday, 20 December 2010 the Leiden Institute for Philosophy organizes a one-day conference on Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus.
