Travelling to Leiden
The following information will help you get to Leiden, as well as help you find your way around the relevant locations in Leiden.
1. Arriving by plane, travelling from Schiphol Airport to Leiden
Taking the train is the best means of getting to Leiden. Trains depart from Schiphol Airport to Leiden every 10 to 15 minutes. The trains to Leiden usually depart from tracks 5 or 6. Travelling to Leiden will take about 20 minutes. Tickets can be bought at a ticket dispenser (in front of the stairs leading to the tracks) or at the booking office near Schiphol Plaza. A 2nd class ticket costs 5,40 euros; 1st class costs 9,20 euros. (Please keep your receipt).
2. Walking from Leiden Centraal Station to Hotel de Doelen (about 5-10 minutes)
On arrival, follow the signs indicating “Centrum.” When you exit the station, walk south on Stationsweg, which leads to the Steenstraat. Cross the Oude Vest canal and turn right on Prinsessekade. Cross the Galgewater canal and continue south on Kort Rapenburg, which leads to the Rapenburg. Hotel de Doelen is near the corner of the Rapenburg and Breestraat, on your left hand side.

Walking from Leiden Centraal Station to Hotel Mariënpoel
On arrival, follow the signs indicating “Centrum.” When you exit the station, keep to the left hand side, and walk south on Stationsweg. After about 250 meters, take a left at the bar/restaurant "De Bruine Boon" onto Schuttersveld. Continue heading straight for about 400 meters, until the road leads to Rijnsburgerweg. Continue walking straight until you reach Hotel Mariënpoel on your right hand side.

Walking from Leiden Centraal Station to Hotel Nieuw Minerva
On arrival, follow the signs indicating “Centrum.” When you exit the station, keep to the left hand side, and walk south on Stationsweg which leads to Steenstraat. Keep going straight until you arrive at a bridge. Cross the bridge, then take a right along Prinsessekade. Keep going straight until you arrive at the second street on your left called "Boommarkt". Walk down this street until you reach Hotel Nieuw Minerva on your right hand side.

Walking from Leiden Centraal Station to Hotel Golden Tulip
On arrival, follow the signs indicating “Centrum.” As soon as you exit the station you'll notice an underground bicycle parking on your left, taxis usually park above it. Take a left, walking over the parking until you come to a junction. Keep going straight along "Schipholweg", until you reach the Golden Tulip Hotel on your right hand side.
6. Arriving by car, parking in Leiden
The city of Leiden is divided in two parking zones: a high rate parking zone in the canal area (city centre) and a low rate parking zone for the rest of Leiden. Fees for parking should be paid at a parking meter. The parking meter will indicate what parking zone you are in.
Parking fees
Parking should be paid for on Monday to Saturday from 09.00 to 21.00 and on Sunday from 13.00 to 21.00. Outside these intervals parking is free. Within the high rate zone parking costs € 2.00 per hour. In the low rate zone the fee is € 1.50 per hour.

Parking for a longer term is more convenient and cheaper in a parking garage. There are three parking garages in the city center of Leiden:
