Turkish literature and performing art. 

CV

Obtained her PhD at Leiden University (1997) and works at LIAS for Middle Eastern Studies. She combines in her scholarly work research in the field of modern Turkish prose literature with research in the field of performing arts, especially modern Turkish theater and Turkish film and television drama. In relation to her current position as executive secretary of Leiden University Centre for the Study of Islam and Society(LUCIS)and the Nederlands Interuniversity Researchschool fo Islamic Studies(NISIS) her scholarly interest focuses on the role of Islam in modern Turkish cultural life.
