Religion & Philosophy

The Religion & Philosophy network includes researechers based in LIAS and in LUCSoR, and brings together experts on religious and intellectual traditions from around the world.

These include Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Daoism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and religious and intellectual traditions in the Ancient Near East. Attention to local context and to global connections is indispensable for the study of religion in general, in disciplinary and comparative frameworks. As such, the network embodies a notion of Religion in the World, as a nutshell profile of the study of religion at Leiden University. Meaning: religion is everywhere, and knowledge of religion is essential for anyone who wants to understand the world; and manifestations of religion are culturally and linguistically grounded in particular places in the world.

Below, we list events organized by and/or relevant to the network.
