Ugaritic Studies, Old Babylonian period, Mari texts and laws in Ancient Near East
Private Documents of Ugarit
Supervisor: Prof. dr. Wilfred van Soldt
My PhD research aim to re-edit and upgrade the private documents from Ugarit, which includes non-offical legal texts, contracts and personal correspondence texts. According to those texts, I try to explain the Ugaritic society from a down-to-up angle, more specifically, how common people live in Ugarit. I will focus on land problem, merchants, and familial problems and so on. In order to construct the social and economic picture of individuals of Ugarit, both Akkadian and Ugaritic texts will be carefully examined. Then, it may be compared with other areas, such as Mari and Old Babylonian period.
