PhD research Project

Literature and Literary Publishing Houses in West Sumatra, 1920-2010

Supervisor: Prof. Ben Arps.

My research aims to investigate the modern Indonesian literary history in West Sumatra. The period to be investigated is between 1920s and 2010s.  This research will explore publishing houses, authors, production and distribution of literary works, literary criticism, literary festivals and events, and more generally inter-correlation between social and literary development in West Sumatra, during this selected period. By researching this theme, I propose to present a history of literary development in modern Indonesian literature, in term of a regional perspective of literary studies.
