If you are flying to Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, the easiest way to travel to Leiden is by train. The airport includes an underground railway station, with frequent services to Leiden (as final destination, or en route to The Hague/Den Haag and Rotterdam). From the airport to Leiden takes 15-20 minutes. Please be advised that while the "airport line" (Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport-Leiden-The Hague-Rotterdam) is not otherwise an unsafe itinerary, it is notorious for pickpockets and small-time theft.
LIAS is at easy walking distance from Central Station (10 mins):

The Leiden University Visitor's Centre opposite the Station will be glad to help you with directions and other info.
Taxis and buses are located just outside the Station, to the left and right respectively. Take bus 1 or bus 45 to (busstop) Patersstraat.

On all routes to the University buildings you will find signs to car parks. The most convenient ones are located at the Haagweg (€ 4 per 2 hours and € 11,50 whole day) and the Maliebaan (University car park). The walk from the Haagweg to the University buildings on the Witte Singel takes about 10 minutes. If you need to go to the city centre, a free shuttle bus will take you there from the Haagweg parking.
