News and eventsThe summer months are ideal for learning or improving a foreign language. In June, July and August, the Academic Language Centre offers intensive and semi-intensive courses in Dutch, English, French and Chinese. Due to the intensive nature of the programme, participants are as it were immersed in the target language and are able to make great progress in a short amount of time.
The pre-sessional English courses at the Academic Language Centre are open to international students who have to take an IELTS test in order to be admitted to the degree programme of their choice at Leiden University, to Dutch students who would like to study abroad and need an IELTS certificate in order to be admitted at a foreign university, and to people with an academic background who are interested in obtaining an IELTS Academic certificate.

The Leiden University Academic Language Centre is organising an Open Day on Thursday 2 February from 14.00 to 16.00 hrs. There will be trial lessons for some of the languages. Staff and teachers of the Language Centre will be available to answer any questions you may have about our language courses. You can also take a free entrance level test without any obligations.
The Academic Language Centre is a language institute which caters to professionals. We provide a variety of language courses as well as Dutch for foreigners.
