This website is specifically intended for the students enrolled in the programme of International Studies.
1600 students, 60 nationalities: This is International Studies, the unique Leiden University English-language Bachelor based at our location in The Hague, the International City of Peace and Justice.
On October 3, Leiden University celebrates "Leids Ontzet", which means that there will be no lectures or tutorials on the 3rd of October, unless explicitly agreed upon with your individual tutor groups. The University Buildings in The Hague will be open according to their regular opening times. Please note, however, that the Student Information Desk at the Schouwburgstraat will be closed on October 3rd.
Second year students can choose from three options to fill their discretionary space in the first half of the first semester in the 3rd year of International Studies. Students can choose to do an internship, a minor (in Leiden or at another university in the Netherlands) or study abroad.
Every year, an outstanding lecturer receives the Faculty Teaching Prize from the teaching committee. The prize is awarded during the official opening of the academic year on 7 September. This year, students nominated eight candidates.
