Curriculum Vitae

Arjan Nobel (Oud-Beijerland, 1978) studied history at Leiden University. During his study he was editor of the historical journal Leidschrift. He graduated in 2003 cum laude on a thesis entitled: ‘Burgerlijke regenten en goede burgers. Ambachtsheren en inwoners van de ambachtsheerlijkheid Cromstrijen, 1770-1790’.

After graduating, he worked as a freelance historian for several organisations in The Netherlands, France and Israel, among which the National Archive in The Hague, Fortis AMEV/Vastgoed Landelijk in Utrecht, Centraal Meldpunt Joodse Oorlogsclaims in Amsterdam/Diemen, Price Waterhouse Coopers in Amsterdam, Stichting Platform Israël (SPI) in Tel Aviv and the Center for Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.

In 2004 he started working as Ph.D. student at Leiden University, writing a thesis about the political institutions of the seigniory Cromstrijen during the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

Arjan Nobel is editor of the historical journal Holland. In 2007-2008 he is PhD candidate member of the Board Department of History.
