Curriculum vitae
Albertine Bloemendal (Amersfoort, 1984) followed the American Studies program at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. As part of her BA program she studied a semester at Boston College where she took courses in philosophy, political science and media studies. After finishing her BA (cum laude) she decided to do the MA program in American Studies with a focus on (international) politics.
Albertine did an internship at the political department of the Dutch embassy in Washington DC where she also started doing research for her MA thesis about the influence of Kuyperian thought on American welfare reform. She graduated cum laude and won the Theodore Roosevelt American History Award for her thesis.
Albertine also studied Journalism and New Media at the University of Leiden after which she started working as an independent journalist.
As of November 2009, Albertine is working on a PhD project at Leiden University. By closely researching the life and work of Ernst van der Beugel (1918-2004) she tries to gain a better understanding of the role of informal diplomacy and elite-networks in transatlantic relations after the Second World War.
