Board structure of the Institute for History

Academic Director

The Academic Director is the head of the Institute for History, and as such carries overall responsibility for the institute. The Academic Director is directly answerable to the Faculty Board.

The Academic Director of the Institute for History is Prof.dr. L. de Ligt


Management Team

The Management Team is responsible for all matters concerning the institute, and comprises four members:

Director of Studies
Dr. J. Augusteijn

The Director of Studies is responsible for the teaching activities of the Institute for History.


Director of Research
Dr. P.J.J. Meel

The Director of Research is responsible for the coordination of the PhD programme and research funding at the Institute for History.


Institute Manager  
Ms. R.J. Wensma, BA  

The Institute Manager is in charge of operational affairs of the Institute, such as finances, personnel and the internal organisation of the Institute for History.



Advisory Council

The Advisory Council comprises the following persons (1 september 2014 until 1 september 2015): 

Peter Hoppenbrouwers, Judith Pollmann, Jeroen Duindam, Jos Gommans, Henk te Velde, Adam Fairclough, Mirjam de Bruijn, Patricio Silva, Andre Gerrits, Marlou Schrover, Patrick Dassen (UD member) and Sanne Muurling (PhD member).

Institute Council

The Institute Council comprises all staff members of the Institute for History.

Members: all (external) PhD candidates connected to a supervisor of the institute.
