The Arts and Culture programme has three main overall perspectives: the study of works of art, design and buildings from a global perspective; the focus on historical and contemporary works of art, design and architecture in terms of agency and reception; and to study art and design as engaged cultural responses to life sciences.
October 3rd is a local holiday in Leiden: the ‘Leids Ontzet’. For this reason, the university buildings are closed and there will be no lectures. This is also in effect for International Studies in The Hague.
Art history lecturer Marion Boers was awarded the Humanities Education Award at the opening of the academic year this afternoon. Every year, the most inspiring teacher receives the award. The judges praised Boers for her enthusiasm and sense of humour.
